Animals & Anthotypes

Animals & Anthotypes (2026) is an exploration of terra materials and natural color. Each piece in the series isolates a single color and expands it into a tactile landscapes, layered by botanical palettes and finished with hidden-world anthotypes cradled within each animal’s silhouette. An anthotype is a photographic print made using turmeric as a light-sensitive pigment. The experiments below demonstrate how my work evolves. I begin by collecting the materials and bringing them together in a curated manner, testing texture against each natural dye, here, utilizing algae, mycelium, shelf fungi, leather, preserved moss, wool, cellulose materials, indigo, logwood, and pokeberry pigments. When the materials have been tested, I extract what is left behind and through this process,
